Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art is pleased to announce the acquisition of Bed Kiss (2025) and Pool (2025) from Sam Penn’s fall 2025 exhibition Max at New York Life Gallery. This marks Penn’s first museum acquisition. Her work joins Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art’s permanent collection of 30,000 artworks by queer and trans artists–the largest collection of its kind
To celebrate the occasion, Ser (2023), this special 8x12” benefit print of a new photograph, is available to purchase through June 23, 2026.
Ser depicts artist Ser Serpas on a night out in the Fire Island Pines, where longtime friends Serpas and Penn often spend time over the summer, and the locale where Penn shot the newly acquired works.

Sam Penn (b. 1998, Oklahoma City, OK) is a photographer based in New York. Penn’s work was the subject of a solo exhibitions at New York Life Gallery, New York, New York (2025), Balice Hertling Galerie, Paris, France (2024), and she has participated in group exhibitions at James Fuentes, New York, NY (2025); OCDChinatown, New York, NY (2024, 2023); and New York Life Gallery, NY (2024).
Ser Serpas (b. 1995, Los Angeles, CA) is a contemporary artist and poet known for creating unstable, often large-scale, assemblages from found objects, refuse, and discarded furniture. Based in Paris, she creates work exploring themes of death, legacy, and material value, frequently recontextualizing urban debris within gallery spaces.
